When Blair’s father, Harold, comes home for the holidays with an unexpected guest — his boyfriend, Roman — Blair finds it difficult to hide her disappointment and hatches a plan to get rid of Roman for good. Jenny and Vanessa help Serena plan the best Christmas surprise ever for Dan, who may have a surprise of his own in mind for Serena. Chuck texts Blair that Nate has joined him in Monaco, worrying Blair that Chuck may disclose the details of their hook-up. Rufus refuses to remain the understanding husband any longer after Alison’s former lover calls the house.

Gift-giving by D, S, and V

Vanessa has presented Dan with the perfect Christmas gift by getting him published in The New Yorker. This puts Serena in a predicament of having to beat Vanessa’s gift for Dan.

After setting rules for a $50 gift, Vanessa helps Serena do a snowfall light show for Dan at the gallery. And Dan and Jenny sneak in a Christmas tree for Serena at the Palace.

Dan reveals that the 10-8-05 story published in The New Yorker is about his first meeting with Serena at a party.

Chuck and Nate Run off to Monaco

Chuck has run off to his dad Bart’s hotel in Monaco. Nate follows his best friend, leaving Blair to panic that Chuck might tell N about her first time with him.

Daddy’s Back!

Harold Waldorf is back just for the holidays, with boyfriend Roman in tow. Blair and Eleanor fail at getting rid of Roman at the ice skating rink. Blair plans to convince him to stay in New York but Harold has already bought the vineyard in France with Roman.
Blair tries to get back at his dad and Roman by inviting Roman’s ex Freddy. It backfires though but Harold eventually understands that he has to make time for Blair the coming summer.

Eleanor Gets Her Groove Back

The soiree at the Waldorf’s on Christmas Eve is full of Victoria’s Secret. Roman has a surprise for Eleanor and invited Jack Croft.

Christmas Day

Dan and Serena come in late after finally doing it the first time on Christmas Eve. Bart presents Lily with a diamond engagement ring on Christmas morning while Rufus confesses his feelings on her voicemail as he stands outside The Palace in the snow.

Memorable Lines

Dan (reading from a greeeting card): From Alex. Alison, meet me on the 24th. (awkward pause) And that’s not a Christmas card.

Eleanor to Roman: Friends don’t steal other friends’ husbands.

Serena (doing crafts on Blair’s bed): Sorry we’ve turned your room into an art studio, B, but the clock is ticking.

Eleanor to Harold: Blair learned scheming from her mother and unrealistic dreaming from her father. She tries really hard to act all grown up but don’t you be fooled; she’s still a little girl who needs her daddy.
