Jenny the Handmaiden
Gossip Girl: Long ago, when European royals grew bored with Palace balls, they took a page from the peons and added some pageantry… coutoure and canape are just another Saturday night. Until you add a mask. But preparing for a ball is an event in itself, which is why the queens invented HANDMAIDENS.
Jenny slaves for Blair, running all about town doing errands for Blair’s party — but since freshmen don’t go to the Masked Ball, Jenny doesn’t get an invite. With a little help, Jenny crashes the party, tricks Chuck out of his devil costume.
Scavenger Hunt at The Masked Ball
Blair and Nate’s very special lovemaking that has yet to happen. Blair has an elaborate game planned where Nate has to solve clues given by Blair’s ladies-in-waiting before midnight — and the treasure is, guess what? Blair! And her treasure chest.

Sadly for Blair, Nate’s distracted by his family troubles and doesn’t go to find her right away. He mistakes Jenny for Serena, telling him how he still likes her (Serena). What an awful secret for Jenny to keep.
Three’s a Crowd
Vanessa Abrams, Dan’s best friend who moved to Vermont last year, shows up at the Humphreys. Serena hears Vanessa in the background when she calls Dan, wanting to invite her to the Masquerade. Dan stupidly lies about the girl’s voice and screws it up with Serena.

Trouble Brewing with the Archibalds
Nate snoops around his dad’s library and finds cocaine. He tries to contact Blair then Serena, needing a friend.
Memorable Lines
Blair to Kati and Isabel: No more excuses! Serena has to have the hottest date ever! If he’s got plans, he’ll change them. If he has a girlfriend, he’ll dump her. If he’s out of town, he’ll charter a G5 and fly home. Make it happen.

Tribeca Star Comments
Watching Vanessa flirt with Dan is painful. Isn’t it just out-of-this-world convenient that Vanessa’s movie-date dress was glittery enough to earn her a pass to the Masked Ball?
